A Strong Year For SAP LeanIX
SAP LeanIX came a long way in 2024. Following the announcement of our acquisition by SAP in 2023, we continued to empower enterprise architects with cutting-edge capabilities, while laying the groundwork to enhance our offering with improved integrations with SAP technology, and additional features that benefit even those who don't leverage SAP.
This expansion of our solution led to us being recognized as an enterprise architecture "Leader" for the fourth consecutive year in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. This annual report runs down what leading analyst firm, Gartner considers to be the frontrunners in the enterprise architecture tool market.
In addition, SAP LeanIX was voted the top solution for enterprise architecture and application portfolio management across six categories of the G2 software awards in four consecutive quarters across the year. The G2 awards always have a special meaning as they're awarded based on the reviews of software users.
Combined, these two accolades confirm that SAP LeanIX is considered the best-of-breed enterprise architecture solution by both industry experts and enterprise architects themselves. The key to this is the way that we ensure everything we do is designed to meet the needs of our customers.
A Customer-Centric Approach
SAP LeanIX has always prided itself on being a tool designed for enterprise architects. Our solution addresses the real challenges that enterprise architects are facing in their day-to-day work, which is why we have a customer satisfaction score of 97%, up 1% on last year.
This isn't just a conceptual value, either. This year, we received around 8,000 ideas and feedback notes from our community, and we used those to design over 100 new features for our solution.
All our feature releases and updates are driven by our desire to make our software as useful as possible for our customers. This has only been enhanced since we joined SAP, as we've been able to increase our product development resources this year.
For example, a recent overhaul of the design of our application fact sheet interface was accelerated by a single thread in our user community noting some ways that the layout could be improved. From the community post being published, it took our developers just two weeks to enact the changes in our live platform, with a great response from our community.

SAP LeanIX New Features
SAP LeanIX, taking the feedback of our users on board, has enacted over 100 updates during 2024, as we noted above. Some of these updates obviously include greater integration with a key selection of SAP tools, but our most exciting updates are further expansions on our existing capabilities.
Let's take a look at the highlights of the new functionalities that we've added this year:
The First EA Tool Empowered By AI
Incorporating the technology into IT landscapes is rapidly becoming a priority for enterprise architects. To enable that, we've become the first EA tool provider on the market to empower their product with AI capabilities.
Even Better Diagramming
SAP LeanIX has always had expansive diagramming capabilities, but we expanded these even further in 2024. We upgraded enterprise architecture diagramming in SAP LeanIX to allow you to present diagrams with annotations directly within the platform, as well as adding configurable shape templates for diagrams, including a ready-to-use ArchiMate library.
Tech Radar Report
Our new tech radar report surfaces the performance and standards of your IT landscape, including software and hardware. This allows you to empower investment decisions
Expanded Inventory Management
We've expanded the inventory management capabilities of SAP LeanIX with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features. Our solution will now be able to complete daily tasks for enterprise architects, including adding descriptions and summaries, as well as translating content into other languages.
SAP Discovery And ServiceNow Integration
Lastly, SAP LeanIX is now the only EA tool on the market to include automated landscape discovery for SAP applications, both on-premise and in the cloud. Not to mention, we've expanded and matured our ServiceNow integration, with feature aggregation and catalog linking.
Hosting SAP Transformation Excellence Summits
One particular highlight of the year for SAP LeanIX was co-hosting the SAP Transformation Excellence Summits along with SAP Signavio. These events were held at Frankfurt in Germany, Chicago in the USA, and Gold Coast in Australia.
181 speakers presented to 2,231 participants on-site, and 1,062 who viewed the event online. The summits brought together industry leaders, partners, and customers sharing insights, strategies, and success stories centered around business transformation.
Key highlights of the summits included:
- Expert presentations on the latest trends in enterprise architecture, business process management, and artificial intelligence (AI)
- Customer and partner case studies that showcased real-world applications and lessons learned, demonstrating the practical benefits of integrating processes, data, people and applications to streamline operations and enhance agility
- In-depth discussions on crucial topics, such as the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in operational efficiency, user-adoption strategies, and the future of enterprise architecture and business process management
- Peer-to-peer networking opportunities that facilitated the exchange of ideas and fostered valuable professional connections
The summit highlighted the importance of a holistic approach to transformation. Attendees gained actionable insights and practical strategies to accelerate their transformation journeys, making the summits a pivotal event in our calendar of events for 2024.
The Future Of SAP LeanIX
As great as 2024 has been, we expect an even-better 2025 for SAP LeanIX, and more to come in the future as we continue to expand our solution. We have so many plans and we can't wait to show you what we've been working on:
- Our new inventory builder will automatically extract and structure architectural information from various document formats, significantly reducing manual work
- The architecture executive dashboard will provide decision-makers with actionable KPIs and project insights
- We're also integrating comprehensive architecture decision-making capabilities directly into SAP LeanIX, moving beyond basic documentation to support collaborative decision processes and architecture review boards
- Additionally, we will introduce calculated fields for TIME assessment, allowing you to create custom formulas and leverage JavaScript code
While we plan to spend 30% of our resources on improving our integration with other SAP applications, we will focus 70% of our efforts on platform-agnostic capabilities. This means we can continue to support our customers whether they use other SAP tools or not.
