In this current era of remote-first and data-driven organizations, Goldman Sachs’ decision to help fund the growth of LeanIX’s dual product suites for end-to-end management of on-premises and cloud native IT landscapes is a resounding statement on the relevance of enterprise architecture today. In particular, as a result of its uniquely intuitive and collaborative features, the LeanIX Enterprise Architecture Suite and the more recent LeanIX Cloud Native Suite has become relied upon by over 300 international customers — including fast-growing businesses like Atlassian, Mimecast, and Zalando — since its founding in 2012 in Bonn, Germany.
"Enterprise architects are now part of the highest decision-making teams when it comes to creating digital business services,” said Christ. “With LeanIX, our customers can align business priorities with new technologies by leveraging automated, on-demand insights on how IT and business are connected. This transparent and reliable information is available at the push of a button, and represents the true possibilities of EA.”
The Series D funding comes on the heels of the following LeanIX product releases and announcements made at the company’s recent EA Connect Days, the company’s flagship event series for the global EA community held in both the United States and Germany:
Released in June, the LeanIX Self-Service Portal gives LeanIX users a way to use EA data for the purpose of approving/quality assuring new software orders and contextualizing technical support tickets. It can be configured by admins — quickly and via a variety of filters — to extend stakeholders throughout EA networks a chance to autonomously troubleshoot problems.
LeanIX opened many new avenues for helping its users manage IT costs as a result of the recent LeanIX-Apptio integration. This integration is a direct and dynamic link between the LeanIX Enterprise Architecture Suite and Apptio’s IT Financial Management solution, and with the connection, stakeholders can use bi-directional data flows between the two market-leading software packages to make data-driven, contextualized decisions about IT investments. Of note, the integration directly supports use cases like cloud transformation management, application rationalization, and technology risk management.
The LeanIX-Lucidchart integration is another recent 2020 product release that’s widened the possibilities for LeanIX users — especially in terms of diagramming and solution architecture. This integration allows LeanIX users to model complex EA data with the full functionality of Lucidchart’s state-of-the-art diagramming solution, all in order to foster more continuity across businesses by: (1) making Lucidchart an available diagram type in user workspaces; (2) selecting the import of existing Lucidchart documents into LeanIX and linking them directly to LeanIX Fact Sheets; (3) converting existing LeanIX diagrams into Lucidchart documents for additional styling visualizations; and (4) previewing, opening, and editing LeanIX documents in Lucidchart.
From planning to execution, LeanIX’s forthcoming Business Transformation Management Module (BTM) will let LeanIX users make IT strategies more traceable and business-oriented. At any user-defined point in time, and for all changing IT assets, the module makes it possible for users to categorize modifications to architectures within specific containers while performing detailed impact analysis. Further, all transformation plans, objectives, building blocks, and projects can be easily represented within LeanIX reports to visualize future-state IT landscapes and secure business capability-based planning. Functionality is added for specific use cases like TIME-based reporting and change identification.
Last but not least, the upcoming release of LeanIX Microservices Intelligence — the second of three planned modules in the LeanIX Cloud Native Suite — is a clear example of LeanIX’s commitment to optimizing customer cloud journeys. Offering a range of mechanisms built entirely for providing more secure and efficient microservices portfolio management, the module will offer reports to review deployment landscapes according to application criticality, individual business services, and policies. LeanIX Microservices Intelligence will have integrations to Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Snyk to allow diverse users ranging from EAs to DevOps engineers to run state-of-the-art infrastructure platforms with more flexibility.
Product updates such as the above are part of a much longer history of innovation at LeanIX and a sure sign of the future-forward mentality of its globally-based teams.
“LeanIX is a thought leader in enterprise architecture. We were impressed by the company’s revenue growth, the positive customer feedback and its visionary concept: LeanIX develops software solutions to reduce complexity in IT application landscapes,” Christian Resch, Managing Director of Goldman Sachs Growth in a statement. “Importantly, LeanIX’s software helps companies with their transition to, and maintenance of, both the cloud and modern microservices architecture.”
Additionally, Alexander Lippert, Vice President at Goldman Sachs Growth, will join LeanIX’s board of directors.
